1SquareMile Project – Audible

I was invited by international aritst Xu Zhifeng (Shaw) to produce work as part of his residency with the 1mile² project in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. I created an experience which aimed to create a purely auditory understanding of an unknown space. In a trip to the Watham Forest square mile participators were blindfolded and individually taken to its centre by a guide. As participants could not see the space, they tried to sound map the space, understanding it in a totally new way. The exactly location of the centre point was never disclosed so the viewers cannot re-visit it and it will always remain a solely aural experience.
